grandma talk
My grandmother was born in 1914, she's witnessed the jet age- a man landing on the moon, miracle drugs and blue smurfs. An amazing woman who's still walking in her nineties. (photo circa 1945 - from right to left: grandma, mom)

Add A GrandmaOK, the robots are getting better. I just received this submission - read for yourself to see what I mean -

    *******************************************

There I was cruising the lanes when I stumbled on this site! I have to state that this grandma is unfamiliar to me....I knew her....when she first let me taste coffee- a few tablespoons in a cup with at least 3 oz of milk...when she first gave me a small sip of wine...that nasty sweet dessert wine...yuk...when she gave me my first taste of avocado....and laughed as I gagged and made faces....I knew her when I would walk to her house to visit and the first words out of her mouth were "Are you hungry? Have you eaten? Would you like some food?"....Huh...I guess this grandma is still buried deep inside...I wonder if she remembers??

    *****************************************

I get some interesting posts but this one, this one soars to new heights of deception - I almost missed the clever substitution. I'm letting this stay up for awhile in the hopes that the few that read it understand how dark the internet can be.

Unless, of course you're the one that wrote this, well, then, drop me a line and I'll, (cough, ahem...) apologize.

My grandmother, the matriarch of our family, passed away in 1983. After a funeral attended by everyone in the county, she was buried in the family plot with several family members including her mother and a granddaughter. She was an avid gardener, so the family immediately planted grass and flowers over the grave site, knowing how happy that would make her soul. It immediately died. They tried again, it died. Over the next 15 years, many family members and friends tried to plant the area over the grave, but to no avail.

I received a story about wartime grandmas and thought - what a cool idea! How about a topic/section for OPG's (other peoples grandmas) If you have a story about your grandmother to share and photos to post, I would be happy, after reviewing of course, to put up your story. Some things to consider before submitting:

Keep it in good taste: no grandma porn or grandma mansons
Short and to the point: a couple of paragraphs or so
    Spell check it

I'll think of some other tips after I get a few. You can also just submit stories about grandmothers you come across on the web.

In the past, man has waged war over disputes and inadvertantly made a point - avoid going to war at all costs. Nonetheless, wars are and will be fought by men and women - and your grandmother. So what did your grandmother do in the war? Did she squat in a foxhole eating beans from a can while calling everybody "Joe" or "Mac." Or did she sit far back from the front lines in the saftey of an office in front of a typerwritter? Either way, our grandmothers fought (and died?), fighting for the right for their grandkids to make war once again. Just take a look at the interviews of the toughest grandmas in the world:
