grandma talk
My grandmother was born in 1914, she's witnessed the jet age- a man landing on the moon, miracle drugs and blue smurfs. An amazing woman who's still walking in her nineties. (photo circa 1945 - from right to left: grandma, mom)

Grams CornerI stumbled upon some grandma opossum poetry (http://members.tripod.com/keeters_12/id24.html) that was a nice read. However, I thought that there was some important factual information left out. So, I decided to whip up some opossum poety.

I haven't visited grams in quite awhile now. The last time I was there, all she talked about, was the people that live inside her head. Oh, and how much her stomach hurt. Well, they finally found something wrong. I think they used a camera to look inside her stomach where they found inflamed walls. It had gotten to the point where she wasn't eating, so this was a good thing. With some new medication for her upset tummy she's doing much better...

I visited gram last week. She was not doing too well. It seems she has a constant pain somewhere in her intestines after eating. So, she's been refusing to eat. Unless the food is really good. I happened to get there at dinner time and looked under the cover on her plate. Yummy! Puree of green something, puree of yellow stuff and puree of brown. I was sold. Thinking of making the trip out there if gram wasn't going to be eating it.

Occassionally, my grandmother will talk to her roommates. Most of the time, she stays awake all night talking to imaginary people. Granted some are real persons in her life. They're just not with her in the room. Her first bunkmate, complained she talked too much. So, they moved her to another room. Of course my grandmother never complained about the lady talking in her sleep. Maybe because her hearing aids are weak -or maybe she doesn't want to be there either, who knows? The new roomy was nice at least I thought so...
