My grandmother was born in 1914, she's witnessed the jet age- a man landing on the moon, miracle drugs and blue smurfs. An amazing woman who's still walking in her nineties. (photo circa 1945 - from right to left: grandma, mom)

How many times have you walked into a room to find someone you haven't seen in years...and wouldn't have seen if you hadn't left the house earlier that day?

How many times have you just missed getting into an accident but didn't because the phone rang as you're walking to the car which stole a few precious seconds that prevented your almost untimely arrival?

What about the times you did miss an old friend? Got into an accident? Coincidence or not?

So there I was, hours before getting on a plane to head back to LA, when a hurricane warning threatens my very departure. Hurricane Charly...or is it?

As an audio person with years of experience in recording, I remember coming across some strange phenomena about voices being recorded in empty rooms with no one present. Somehow today, it all came flooding back in a rush of color...

Where are you, when you are there? For that matter, where were you when I was there? On mothers day, I was at my mom's (where else?) and noticed my sister searching for GPS units - Global Positioning System: small handheld units that keep track of where you are on the earth using satellites in orbit. I asked her why she wanted one...CONFLUENCES! she replied...

About 12-15 years ago, I traveled to the hollers of West Virginia to be with a good friend while he buried his father. Never before, have I personally witnessed firsthand, folklore and mysterious legends come to life. That's not to say I saw anything out of the unusual mind you, only that I was in a land that time forgot...

      Soy Good? - Soy Bad?

Recently, I had a conversation with a friend about soy and soy products not being safe to consume in large quantities. Among other discussions were fluoride and he was also worried about partially hydrogenated oils. I was more interested in these oils replacing peanut butter oil to create a less cholesterol filled one. A friend did some research for him and came to the following conclusions which I hopefully present as truthfully as I remember. Her conclusions were as follows:

    1. Fluoride - on the fence- agrees there is no reason to add to public water
    2. Soy protein and Soy products - could not find any evidence to back claims soy is bad
    3. Partially Hydrogenated Oils - believes the danger is EXTREMELY REAL

      The Spaghetti Tree

Most of you will probably not remember the Spaghetti Tree story...

"On April 1, 1957 the British news show, Panorama, broadcast a segment about a bumper spaghetti harvest in southern Switzerland. The success of the crop was attributed to an unusually mild winter. The audience heard Richard Dimbleby, the show's anchor, discussing the details of the spaghetti crop as they watched a rural Swiss family pulling pasta off spaghetti trees and placing it into baskets."

I sure didn't. At least until a few years back when it made the rounds on the net. Today, for some strange reason, it popped into my head like the melody of an annoying song....
