The Orange, Sugar and the Arm

Some time ago a friend did something that made me wonder. I was given a bag of sugar to hold...

and told to hold it firmly in my hand. I didn't know at the time that it was sugar. Next I was to raise my arm, keep it stiff while continuing to hold the sugar. I had no idea what to expect at this point. He gently placed his hand on top of my wrist, reminding me to keep it rigid. He pressed down and slowly my arm moved against my best efforts to prevent it. Next he placed an orange in my hand then repeated the procedure. This time, I was the victor. I felt an instant strength. Where did this new found power come from? I was blown away and quickly asked for a replay. He said sure, but let's try something different. We tried a donut and an apple, a candy bar and a lemon. Each time the same results.

Does a persons body know that some foods are bad? It is something simpler, like smell perhaps. I don't have an answer - although it still works to this day on almost everyone I've tried it on. Give it a try yourself. You may be surprised.

UPDATE:

The above method is called Applied Kinesiology. There are quite a few sites about it and quite a few more debunking the whole field. Who to believe? History books have been known to be inaccurate representations and yet these half-truths are still taught as truth. Medical technology is filled with thousands of unexplained near miraculous cures using basic foods and still you're force-fed pills that kill.

Is Apllied Kinesiology for real? Or is it another example of medical science gone bad. Time will tell.
