Grandma Talk - ...where reality collides with reality
grandma talk
My grandmother was born in 1914, she's witnessed the jet age- a man landing on the moon, miracle drugs and blue smurfs. An amazing woman who's still walking in her nineties. (photo circa 1945 - from right to left: grandma, mom)

GramblingsI've been watching this show " A Haunting" which I believe was broadcast on the Discovery Channel. I haven't finished the series (on dvd) yet. The first few episodes were fluff. But now it's starting to get kinda creepy...

Add A GrandmaOK, the robots are getting better. I just received this submission - read for yourself to see what I mean -

    *******************************************

There I was cruising the lanes when I stumbled on this site! I have to state that this grandma is unfamiliar to me....I knew her....when she first let me taste coffee- a few tablespoons in a cup with at least 3 oz of milk...when she first gave me a small sip of wine...that nasty sweet dessert wine...yuk...when she gave me my first taste of avocado....and laughed as I gagged and made faces....I knew her when I would walk to her house to visit and the first words out of her mouth were "Are you hungry? Have you eaten? Would you like some food?"....Huh...I guess this grandma is still buried deep inside...I wonder if she remembers??

    *****************************************

I get some interesting posts but this one, this one soars to new heights of deception - I almost missed the clever substitution. I'm letting this stay up for awhile in the hopes that the few that read it understand how dark the internet can be.

Unless, of course you're the one that wrote this, well, then, drop me a line and I'll, (cough, ahem...) apologize.

Grams CornerI stumbled upon some grandma opossum poetry (http://members.tripod.com/keeters_12/id24.html) that was a nice read. However, I thought that there was some important factual information left out. So, I decided to whip up some opossum poety.

How many times have you walked into a room to find someone you haven't seen in years...and wouldn't have seen if you hadn't left the house earlier that day?

How many times have you just missed getting into an accident but didn't because the phone rang as you're walking to the car which stole a few precious seconds that prevented your almost untimely arrival?

What about the times you did miss an old friend? Got into an accident? Coincidence or not?

I spent the last couple of days listening to recordings I've made of me and grams. I began wondering if hidden between our conversations, any ghostly voices could be heard...

         About Grandma Talk
    Welcome to Grandma Talk.
Wow! Where to begin? My grandmother is a little bit over 86 years old. During which the last 20 years or so, she has had imaginary friends living with her. She is very sweet and very out there. She said once in one of her more lucid moments "if we are asked to believe that men landed on the moon, then why can't you believe my friends are real?" Well, grams has recently been admitted to an elderly care home. I visit her about twice a week, bring her magazines and just hang for awhile. I usually leave when she starts whispering so "they" can't hear. One of her "friends" is a pyschic and tells her things about the world around her. Since I'm already gathering stories and articles about the absurd, unusual and scientific, I thought "why not here?" And so, Grandma Talk was born. The usual disclaimers apply, "this site makes no claims as to the authenticity of the content contained within, the reader is cautioned to draw their own conclusions with research obtained by other means" This is a work in progress and I have no clue yet which direction to head in, so hang on for a bumpy ride! cj
